It's a roller!

After a few hours of toiling, several cans of spray paint, a can of PB Blaster and much help from my girlfriend, the Catalina is a roller.  The thing finally is sitting on inflated rubber.  No more flat tires, no more jackstands, no more excuses.

spray bomb'd wheels

This weekend's project started with a set of wheels I picked up off of my co-worker, Patrick.  They were his old wheels from his Chevy full size truck, hence the "Baja" lettering on the massive sidewalls.  Before I put the wheels on the car, I was concerned about clearance, even if they are temporary tires/wheels.  The front is obviously going to rub, so a smaller tire is in order.  That and I'd like the staggered sizes for more of that oldschool rake...at least that is another excuse for a different tire.  The back I quite like, I'd maybe go down a little bit on the sidewall but that's it.  Most importantly, the wimpy 14" steelies with copious amounts of structural integrity issues due to rust are gone.

And the more I look at the glossy painted steelies, the more I like 'em.  Who knows, maybe a set of 15" Torq-Thrusts aren't in my future after all.
