I was leafing through my SD memory card for my camera last night and I realized that there were some shots I didn't use from my last trip to the junkyard. These were mostly comedy shots and "what on Earth were you thinking" shots. The first car that caught my attention was a late '80's VW Jetta.
Steve LaValle, look out. You've got some stiff competition with these hyper-realistic flip-flop flames. The purple/green effect of the "flames" looked outstanding against the flat red paint, let me tell you.
However gross the Jetta was, a true junkyard gem was parked next to it. This is one of those cars that when you see it, several things happen:
- You laugh uncontrollably.
- You stop what you're doing and just stare.
- You attempt to psycho-analyze exactly what was going through the owner's head when he/she decided to do this to a car under the guise that "it looks so effin' cool."
- You take tons of pictures and post them to where all of your buddies can see them.
Being a smartass, I decided to do all four choices and here we are. As evidenced by the "Super Street" window banner, this was obviously a car that was featured in a magazine. Look at the style, look at the craftsmanship, look at the...OMG, look at the shaped styrofoam that is epoxied onto the side of the car and held together with A/C tape! Oh, and look over there at the acres of unsanded Bondo. Oooh oooh, don't forget the almost molded in fender vents...almost thought this little DSM was a M6 BMW for a second.
Finally, scope out the 13" baby Dayton wire wheels. Can't forget about those...every performance car needs a set of reverse-offset wire wheels that stick out of the fenders. Trust me, the junkyard is the best place for this thing.
I think I've punished everyone here long enough. Hope you all had a good laugh or two.
