John Force, one of drag racing's biggest names and 14-time NHRA POWERade champion sustained serious injuries at the O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals at Texas Motorplex near Dallas. Force was airlifted to nearby Baylor University Medical Center for treatment.

Force broke his left ankle, critically dislocated his left wrist and suffered a severe abrasion to his right knee during a run with fellow NHRA legend Kenny Bernstein. Force's funny car swerved in to Bernstein's lane just after crossing the finish line, collided with Bernstein then the chassis broke in half after an impact with the retaining wall. Bernstein was not injured.

Force was alert throughout all procedures and was asking to speak to his wife Laurie and daughter Ashley. Doctors have thoroughly evaluated Force's injuries and expect the chances are good for a full recovery. A full update is expected from Force's team about noon Monday.
