What Was Once Old Is Now New.

From time to time I am obliged to show my age. Just after graduating high school in 1972 in Boone, Iowa, my friends Bob Cryder and Tom Sorenson built a ’57 Chevy two-door sedan to go drag racing. I offered my services as a skinny kid with a wrench, and we had fun on the dragstrip breaking lots of parts and spending all of their money. Bob still owns the car, and it was a time-warp trip to visit the car again for the first time in about 15 years. It is mostly complete with its Olds rearend, Liberty four-speed, and 331ci iron-headed small-block. Murphy's Law ran in the AHRA's D/Hot Rod Formula 1 , and while I don't think we ever made it past the first round, our first season was a summer I will never forget.
