I was lucky enough to be invited to the NHRA 54th Annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at the O”Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis Indiana. This is the first race I have been to with the track restricted to 1,000 ft for the Top Fuel and Funny Cars and I wanted to see if the new restrictions had any affect on the impact of the show. The Funny Cars on the line are Mike Neff and Jack Beckman. Neff ran a 4.34 at 225 and Beckman ran a 4.13 at 296 mph during Friday’s qualifying runs. As far as the excitement of the show, the top speed was 300 mph and the low e.t. was 4.11 seconds. I can’t tell the difference.
