We occasionally get e-mails from readers asking about my ’64 Olds F-85. We haven't done much with the car lately because I'm in the process of building a new Olds 455 for the car. The 455 that my buddy Tim Moore bolted in the car runs OK, but with barely 8:1 compression, it's weak. I bought a used short-block to rebuild so I wouldn't have to turn the car into a garage queen. The crank was dead and it's taken two months to secure a replacement. Dick Miller Racing (dickmillerracing.com) is helping with the rebuild that will include all of DMR's oiling tricks along with a set of Edelbrock heads, more compression with Speed Pro pistons, a Comp hydraulic flat-tappet cam, and a set of beautiful DMR headers. It's not a killer engine, but it should push the Olds into the 12s. Look for the Olds to appear in Car Craft soon.
