I saw this GTO at the OPG Open House. It's owned by Donna and Mark Vogt of Huntington Beach, California. It's the classic Gen III/IV engine swap that is becoming extremely popular. What I like about it is that it gave me an idea for my next project car (as if I already don't have enough!). Just by using a set of GTO engine covers, you avoid most of the poison darts thrown by guys who don't believe in putting a big-block Chevy in a Pontiac. This particular engine is an LS2 probably yanked from a late-model GTO. I've already thought about swapping a 6.0L stroker motor into my ’64 Olds F-85 in place of the 455, but alas, Olds didn't make the Gen III cut. I suppose I could make up some engine covers with an Olds logo. That would work. I just think it's a cool idea. My version of the Pontiac swap would be a ’65 two-door sedan Tempest with a Gen III/IV engine, six-speed, killer Global West suspension goodies, and 17x9-inch wheels and 275/40ZR17 tires. How cool would that be?
