Isettas were originally the product of the Italian company Iso, a manufacturer of refrigerators, scooters, and small, three-wheeled trucks. In 1953, Iso brought the Isetta (meaning little Iso in Italian) to the market. Through the ’50s, a variety of European and South American manufacturers bought licenses to make their own versions of these funky-looking cars, most notable among them was BMW, which made four- and three-wheeled versions of these things until 1962. These cars were typically powered by motorcycle engines. Imagine the original designers' looks of shock if they were to see this version we took a gander at in Columbus, Ohio, at the Goodguys show. That's a small-block Ford hanging out in back. Mama mia!
