In my previous blog, I mentioned my ’67 Z/28. At one time, I actually had a NOS cowl induction air cleaner assembly for the car. This led me to thinking about how difficult it would be to build an all-aluminum cowl-inducted air cleaner much like what the NASCAR stock cars use. That led to thinking about how much work it would take to fabricate a homebuilt version of a factory ’67 or ’68 Z/28-style air cleaner by starting with a typical single-inlet four-barrel air cleaner assembly. The hardest part would be making the wide piece that connects the air cleaner housing to the firewall. For someone with decent sheetmetal fabrication skills (which leaves me out), it probably wouldn't be that difficult. If I tried it, it would probably look more like what would happen if Ray Charles took a stab at fabrication. If there's enough reader interest, we could make a run at trying to build something.
