A new book came across my desk a few days ago—The Mopar Six-Pack Engine Handbood written by a good friend of mine, Larry Shepard. Larry is now retired but knows a few things about B and RB Mopar engines, as he was staff engineer for the Chrysler Race Group through the ’70s and ’80s. While the cover makes the book appear to be just about Six Pack Mopar induction, the reality is it's crammed with information on building and modifying both 440 and 340 SixPack engines. It also covers converting both small- and big-block Mopar engines to six-barrel induction. Larry does a comprehensive job of detailing not only what works but also mistakes to avoid when building a performance Mopar engine. There are also specific camshaft recommendations that take much of the mystery out of building a small- or big-block Mopar. Of course, there's also a whole chapter on the carbs and manifolds for these engines. You can find Larry's Six-Pack book at most bookstores or online at Amazon. The retail price is $19.95, ISBN: 978-1-55788-528-9. Larry's also written a 234-page book on those classic ’64 to ’71 426 Hemi engines, too.
