Rear Wheel Horsepower Winner

The race is done, the winner has his trophy. Last year, DynoMax sponsored the Power to the Wheels competition that we covered in the Mar. ’08 issue where Brian Anderson's black twin-turbo small-block Chevy-powered Rambler took the top prize with 1,642 hp to the rear wheels. This year, it was a Ford's turn to lay down the big numbers with Danny Tyner's ’63 Ford Falcon stomping in with a massive 1,776 peak horsepower number from his turbocharged 460ci big-block Ford. Brian Anderson came in second with an impressive 1,724 hp, only 52 hp behind the big Ford. This year, DynoMax also created an All Motor class for the normally aspirated crowd. Returning competitor Darren Tedder unveiled an even bigger 654ci Hemi (without the nitrous) to make 956 hp and take the top spot. If you want more details, look for the whole story in the Feb. ’09 issue of Car Craft. It goes on sale in early December.
