Yes, I love these cars- if our website were easier to navigate, I’d count up the number if times I’ve slobbered over these cars, but I digress. But I ran across this Panther car at last week’s Pomona Swap meet that was such a rip-off, I must call this guy out. He was asking $9600 for this car. It’s a 2004 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor with something like 75,000 miles. The verbiage on the For Sale sign touted such features and benefits as “it’s fast” and “look like a cop”. Wrong on both accounts. $9600 is a lot of money, and, if you’ve got that much to spend, there are dozens of cars (and trucks and SUV’s for that matter) that are much faster than CVPI’s. Worse than that, it’s illegal in California to drive a black and white car on public roads that is not an active police car. I know I wouldn’t want to get busted for impersonating a police officer.
By far, the most outrageous aspect of this endeavor is the asking price. I paid $1500 for my 130,000-mile car at an auction. The paint on this car is in similar condition to what mine was when I bought it, so all you’re really getting is 1 year newer, 55,000 fewer miles. Hardly worth $8100 more, in my opinion. Especially considering the money you’ll spend to make it faster.
Fortunately, I saw the dude leaving the fairgrounds as the meet ended still in this car, with the For Sale sign still in the windshield, and a hole in his wallet.
