ACCEL has a new ignition controller called the Thruster. We can’t begin to describe all the functions this box has in this short blog, but we’ll take stab at it. This is a fully programmable box that when combined with a cam sensor distributor can allow you to put a coil pack on a Gen I small- or big-block Chevy (as an example), making it easy to do individual cylinder timing control. It has 8 amps worth of coil drivers, with 8 drivers in the box and offers 4 separate timing maps with incredible resolution. If you were to put a crank trigger wheel on your engine, the Thruster would allow you unprecedented control over the ignition with incredible accuracy. Plus, it has incredible nitrous control with five stages and the ability to pulse width modulate the solenoids. The Thruster also has a launch mode that can move timing around at the launch to allow control over a turbo to set the exact boost you need on the starting line. All this technology isn’t cheap at around $1,200 and you’ll also need a dual-synch distributor. However, the control this ECM offers is amazing.
