A Simple Fix For Header Clearance Problems

Some of the Best Ideas Are The Simplest

We learned this little trick from a buddy just the other day. He was having trouble with a header tube clearing the steering shaft on this Chevelle, and rather than abuse the header tube with a hammer, he tried using a 1/6-inch shim between the motor mount and the engine to raise the engine slightly. This gave him the clearance he needed, so he didn’t have to tweak his header tube. This will not work in all cases, but it’s a quick fix that might get you out of the slight interference problem.
