Like the Mini I blogged about last month, I’ve driven Z-cars before. They’re nice enough; they just do much for me, though. I’m not really sure why, but I guess I expected a little more excitement behind the wheel. They’re pretty quick, handle and brake well, but driving them never sparked any passion in me. Plus, I think they look weird.
So maybe it’s with that in mind that I believe this Craig’s List ad offers up what might be the ultimate boneheaded buy of the month. OC Nissan (presumably Orange County, though Garden Grove is barely inside the county line) is attempting to sell an ’08 “Zed” for way more than I think any sane person should pay for it- nearly $40,000 dollars.

A quick jump over to Kelley Blue Book’s website, and the best highest retail price I could yield for an ’08 350Z is $30,695- and that’s fully blinged out with all the option boxes checked and 10 miles on the odometer! So what makes this car so special that it would command nearly a $10,000 higher selling price? I certainly hope it’s not the atrocious body kit, which, even if it is by Nismo (Nissan’s in-house hi-perf. division), is completely offensive to the eyes and serves as a rolling billboard to the owner’s bad taste. Anyone who ponies up the extra Benjamins for tacky looking plastic and fiberglass add-ons reinforces the expression “a fool and his money are soon parted”.
