SEMA keeps the magazines appraised of constant changes in government laws that affect car crafters. Over the years, I've noticed a trend toward local governments creating increasingly restrictive laws regarding the number of inoperative vehicles you can have on your property. For example, some local government lawmaker can enact an ordinance that makes it illegal for you to have more than one nonrunning vehicle on your property that’s not located inside a closed building. These laws are created to prevent people from starting their own recycling business in their front yard, which is a good thing if you happen to live next door. But these laws can also go too far in restricting the number of vehicles you can have on your property. These laws tend to be enacted in metropolitan communities where large numbers of cars can be collected at a private residence and cause unsightly issues that can affect property values. It would pay to keep abreast of your local ordinances to prevent having the cops show up on your doorstep with a citation for too many parts cars on your property.
