I just received a press release from EBC concerning a new disc brake pad material. You may be familiar with EBC, they have several different pad materials already including Yellowstuff and Greenstuff pads identified by their colored backing plates. The yellow pads are a great street upgrade especially for trucks. I went up on EBC's website - www.ebcbrakes.com and looked into this new pad. According to the company information, this latest version called Bluestuff offers a race type pad for the street that they claim has excellent cold friction stopping power while retaining a similar coefficient of friction as the temperature climbs past where most normal street pads begin to fade. The Bluestuff pads also have a v-groove in the middle of the pad to vent gases and catch dirt or debris. EBC claims this pad can be used on the street and then taken directly to the track where it can withstand the abuses of a track day experience where brake temperatures can soar. The applications right now are mostly for upscale performance cars. I looked up the Bluestuff PN's and didn't find one for the classic D52 GM style floating single piston caliper, but I'm sure they'll get around to it fairly soon. The Bluestuff pads are available for the C4 Corvette caliper that I have on my Baer brake package on my El Camino, so as soon as we can line up a set of these pads, I'll bolt 'em on and see what happens.
