PEMCO Insurance did some polling: Do people like their state’s fuel-pumping laws? Truthfully, we’ve given it about as much thought as whether we like our state’s spelling. But PEMCO asked, and people answered: If you didn’t know, it’s illegal in Oregon to self-pump (fuel, that is), and two out of three drivers are A-OK with that. In Washington, there are self- and full-serve options, and 60 percent did not want a law preventing them from self-manipulation (fuel, that is). Unrelated but related: New Jersey is another state that demands full-service.
