•One more along those lines: Honda says its worldwide sales of hybrids have now passed 1 million. If you like hybrid stats, then know that figure happened 12 years and 11 months after the automaker first started selling the Insight, which was in Japan.

•OK, last one: The guy who invented the nickel-hydride battery found in hybrids, Stanford R. Ovshinsky, has died.

•Another sad loss: Chris Economaki, an award-winning motorsports journalist.

•The new Dodge Dart earned a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Safety Administration for frontal and side-impact crash tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety also named it a Top Safety Pick. Plow it into a wall! Or is that not what all this means?

•Mercedes-AMG is marking the anniversary of the SL model with the SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary edition. We tell you this because it’s close to $720,000; that’s the interesting part.

•The cover car for this year’s annual Neiman Marcus “Christmas Book” is a ’13 Neiman Marcus Edition McLaren 12C Spider. Stuff it in a stocking for $354,000.

•The National Insurance Crime Bureau punched the figures and learned that in 2011, motorcycle thefts were down 6 percent from 2010. Oh, then they added that the theft rate averages to one every 11 minutes. The most stolen brand was Honda, if you were curious.

•Allianz Your Cover Insurance’s Secret Lives of Cars Report found that 1.9 million people have been proposed to while behind the wheel. Of a car, that is.

•The ’40 Ford Coupe is now an official Ford-licensed all-steel reproduction car body, starting at $11,900. It joins the ’65-’70 Mustang body.

•Yokohama Tire has updated its free iPad app.
