Ford Brings Back the '65 Ford Mustang

Build your "new" vintage Mustang with Ford-approved parts.

Reanimator: You can now build yourself a vintage Mustang with Ford-approved restoration parts; new first-gen body shells can be built into '641/2, '65, and '66 models. The stronger-than-the-original body includes the doors and trunklid and all the sheetmetal from the radiator support to the taillight panels (except the hood and front fenders, which are sold separately). The shell starts at $15,000.

1. It looks to be as fantastic as a ride as the original 1964.5 Convertible. I had a 1964.5 K-Code convertible back in the day. I went to VietNam only to come back and find the once beautifull K-Code Mustang convertible I had. Had been destroyed by the same person I asked to watch over her for me. I won't say who it was but it was a family member.

I always referred to that little 289-271 as the "spookiest" and one of the fastest production muscle cars I ever owned. That was 1966 and I can remember everything about her. The person I purchased it from, had the complete car sent to Tasca Ford in Rhode Island directly after purchsing it,and had the engine balanced and blue printed. They reworked the top end so I could install the .510 .510 Can-Am cam if I ever wanted to without damaging the top end ie. pistons etc. It also had 4:30:1 gears with a locker and the single traction bar.

I remember installing a set of Hooker Headers on her just before being deployed to a country unknown to me. I never spent much time with her as I joined the Marines when I got my greeting from Uncle Sam.

I do remember because the Mustang was a Horse someone putting hay in the grille. To this day I never found out who did it! I wish I could get that one car back. Some of us guys managed to do that, and some of us didn't and never will. But To me I will never forget her. I've had many other cars since but she's the one I'll always remember.......Thanks.

2. Just some needed information? Tuesday night 2-21-12 I was watching Top Gear on the History channel. The part where they took the Mustang,Camaro,Dodge through the paces. They were at an old drive in parking lot. When the Mustang went over the hump or bumps it went over very hard, and I thought I heard a POP. When I looked up I saw what I thought was a crease in the Mustang quarter panel. I hope to watch it again, but did anyone hear or see that. Thanks again..
